Hello WallyWorld :(

We had an uneventful flight from Duluth to Minneapolis to Charlotte, NC. We left Duluth at 3PM and arrived in Minneapolis 40 minutes later - only to wait 3 hours for our next flight. We arrived in the land of Southern Hospitality at 10:10 EDT, got our black Toyota Yaris from Enterprise and checked in to the Holiday Inn Charlotte airport. "Up North" everyone talks about "Minnesota Nice" but down here, nearly EVERYONE practices it. Shawn says "they're almost too nice!" Well of course, not everything could go smoothly... We left Charlotte this morning, ate breakfast at Waffle House (mmm...grits!), and drove about 4 hours to Myrtle Beach, SC. On our way, we stopped at an "official" Myrtle Beach welcome center and ended up with a free night at the Westgate Resort with a private balcony facing the ocean! We just have to eat a free breakfast tomorrow and listen to a timeshare spiel. I told Shawn we're getting old - we never would have done that

Here's our last update before we take off for North & South Carolina on Tuesday. We just wanted to let you know that we've added more pictures to our other site . A trip to Split Rock Lighthouse, an ASL assembly, our trip to Puerto Rico and pictures of our family are a few a dditions. Now that school is almost over I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with my camera and the boys, so you'll see how big they are soon. All that stands between me and the camera are two final tests on Monday. Nothing really exciting going on here. I guess I was on the news the other night, but I didn't see it (thankfully). A local weatherman came to our classroom and the camera operator got the interpreter (me) in a few shots. One of the hazards of the job! Shawn took the boys to the Monster Truck rally in Duluth last night and they all had a good time. Noah took lots of pictures and video with his camera. He'll have to get a site to share his pictures with you all

Graduation -

In a little under 2 weeks, Shawn and I will be heading to North and South Carolina for a little relaxation and my commencement ceremony. On May 3rd I'll be graduating from the Interpreter Training Program (ITP) at Spartanburg Community College in Spartanburg, SC. I chose that program because it was entirely online and the furthest I've had to go for any of my education was up to Duluth to have some tests proctored. The closest ITP to us is in St. Paul so this really worked out well for us - especially since we've been so busy the past couple years! We'll update the blog as we go as a trial before the NYC trip. That way any bugs can be worked out. I think it will be easier to keep our current picture spot on Adobe rather than learn a new system through Google blogger. Therefore, you'll get an email (and I'll probably post here also) the web address for the picture site. Other than that, the weather here is much improved over last Friday and the snow is essentiall

Yes, this is the Northland in APRIL!

Can you believe this? No, you're not on the shores of the Northern Atlantic - it's Duluth harbor on April 10, 2008! Wind speeds were 45-50mph at the time and it was hard to hold the camera steady - let alone being sprayed with water in 34 degree weather! Hours after this was shot came the heavy wet snow along with the 60+ mph gusts, the downed trees, power outages and drifts. Lights are back on, but the wind isn't subsiding much. The ONLY plus is that we haven't gotten the 11-16 inches predicted. We're looking at only 5-8 or so. Why on earth am I saying only ? It is April 11th for crying out loud! Living here makes one crazy I guess. Take care, stay warm, stay home, ~Lynetta

Our first post!

We've decided to start a blog to give you all a chance to travel to New York with us in June! Of course, we'll use this space to let you know what's new with us, and to hopefully hear from you as well. Any good blog is a work in progress so as we go we'll be adding links for slideshows so you can see our pictures as we upload them, some short video clips and any other little fun things we discover that this program can do. I hope you enjoy the journey with us! Shawn, Lynetta, James, Jonathan and Noah
