How do I spell relief?

Image
I spell it D-I-P-L-O-M-A! I guess I should have taken some basic spelling courses too, huh? :) Yesterday was great! No nerves, just joy and relief. Shawn and I got to the Spartanburg Municipal Auditorium at about 8:20 AM (after a stop at Burger King for breakfast) and got my cap and gown. Shawn tried to be a good photographer (bless his heart), but he was trying to videotape and get still pics at the same time! He got enough that weren't blurry though and I put them up on Dropshots . The one above is actually one of my favorites. I was able to meet Denise Huff, one of my instructors/advisor. She was pretty sure that I came the farthest to attend the ceremony. Also attending were my classmates Christina, Pheona , Leah and Suzy. It was nice to actually meet each other, even if (with the exception of Leah) we'll never see each other again. Like me, Suzy is a long-time interpreter and she really worked hard on her degree. She graduated with honors and a 4.0 GPA. This is the first

The Big Day is Tomorrow!

Today was very laid back - our first stop again was our friendly neighborhood Waffle House for breakfast. After that, we decided to head over to the Spartanburg Community College Campus to take some pictures. My favorite one is this one! :) We then meandered over to the Student Center and Book Inn to buy some school memorbillia. I'm from Wisconsin - I can ALWAYS use another sweatshirt! I was able to meet Ms. Foster (in the south, everyone is Mr. or Ms.), the director of the Book Inn. We had talked on the phone and via email numerous times regarding my textbook orders so it was nice to put a face with the name. She was so sweet too - she graduates from a different school with her B.A. degree in two weeks and she thinks it's a 'fine thing to just be still' for awhile after all our hard work! I have to agree with her. After our stop there we headed over to Krispy Kreme to grab me a coffee and Shawn a Coke and then off to the Spartanburg Auditorium for rehearsal. Pretty st

Lots of Driving, but LOTS of fun!

Today started out with our alleged 90 minute timeshare presentation. When we were told that in reality it would take at least 2 hours + breakfast, we decided to pay the $55 for our room (still a bargain) and hightail it on out of there. Instead, we had breakfast at Friendly's Restaurant and started down Highway 17S to Charleston. Along the way we found a place called Pawley's Island. WOW! Across a marsh is a long sandbar with all these gorgeous homes. Even more spectacular is when you drive along slowly with the windows down and listen to a huge variety of birds singing. There were more different songs than we could count! The marsh is a wildlife protection area and I could have spent a long time trying to find the birds that were singing those beautiful songs. Check out the big white egret on the dropshots page. As usual, we had our eyes peeled for Kingdom Halls and we were not disappointed. We saw two today, but only took pictures of one as traffic was too busy to get back to
