Heading out for field service this morning! Yesterday was amazing, but so tiring. We were able to get new SIM cards so we have phone service & internet. I can receive messages, but for some reason I can’t send them on my regular text. It’s best to use WhatsApp or Messenger to reach me if you need to.
We exchanged money, bought shoes, bought toiletries and ate dinner. Then showered and hit the hay. We ate at the hotel restaurant just for convenience. Shawn & Jon had burgers & fries, I had cheese ravioli. Obviously the menu wasn’t very exotic. 😉
It is in the low 50s here this morning and folks are all bundled in coats & boots. I’m in a sweater, with bare legs & sandals. The low humidity is refreshing.
The hotel breakfast was included and there was a beautiful buffet. You know how hotel coffee is usually watery and tasteless? Not here!! I pulled the spigot and black gold flowed!! Also there was an urn of warm milk to add to the hot coffee. Nice!
When we arrived yesterday our Theocratic Rides driver Leandro was wonderful! We piled into his tiny Toyota and he engaged us in conversation all the way - which was a substantial distance. He commended Jonathan on his PortuguĂȘs! Leandro’s English teacher was FIFA World Cup on his PlayStation 4! đŸ€Ł The pure language showed through as we had a great time and shared laughs and hugs. We met his wife via FaceTime. They are both teachers of elementary age children and live in the western part of the city, called the Favalas.
Motorcycles here tend to drive between cars, around cars, surprisingly we didn’t see any under cars (yet).

(The above video was just taken on the bus to service)
When we arrived at our hotel, the Bourbon Ibirapuera, we were again greeted by the friends at the help desk. They gifted us with the incredible bags shown below. Inside my bag, the fabric was hand painted by some of the little Witnesses here and “signed” with a handprint! Too cute. The bags are handmade and friends aged 6-94 worked on them!

Well, I’m going to join in the singing, so we will catch y’all later! Feel free to leave messages & comments here on Blogger too!
