The BIG City!
This morning, we slept in (until about 7AM). We got ourselves together and decided to go into the City. From here at the Newark Marriott, we took the hotel shuttle to the AirTrain station. We boarded an AirTrain to the PATH station (New Jersey's train system). We took the PATH into NYC and arrived at Penn Station. Then, we began to walk. And walk. And walk some more.
We went to McDonalds for breakfast just because it was fast, relatively cheap (by NYC standards) and we could sit down. After McDonalds came the question - what should we do now? We decided on the Empire State Building first.
At the Empire State Building, we went on a simulated helicopter ride called the Skyride. It was ok but not quite real enough for us. Then we went to the 86th floor observatory to take pictures and see the sights high above the city. It was incredible how much you could see!
Next, we headed over to B&H Photo, the world's largest photo/video store. Shawn got a new lens for his camcorder, Noah a new mp3 player so he can listen to his Watchtowers and Awakes, James an armband for his iPod, and Jonathan got a new cover for his iPod.
As we made our way up 42nd Street, we came upon Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. Since it too was covered by our New York Pass (a pass I bought online that gave a huge discount) we went in. Shawn and the boys had a lot of fun there. Me too. You can see pictures of me and my friend Oprah over on Dropshots!
Mind you, we were walking all of this time so we did take intermittent breaks just to sit down a couple times. Noah's feet started to hurt and Shawn is used to driving for hours so he was getting tired too.
After our break near Radio City Music Hall, we meandered over to Rockefeller Plaza for the NBC Studios Tour. Unfortunately, they were booked for the rest of the afternoon. It was sprinkling some by now and it was also supper time so we went to TGIFriday's. By now we decided it was time to explore the subway to get back to Penn Station. It went off without a hitch and we smoothly transferred to our PATH train. We saw a gorgeous double rainbow on the way back to the Newark station too!
Shawn just got back from watching the boys swim for 30 minutes and I'm done blogging for now. Time to relax a bit and get ready for tomorrow's adventures.
After much consideration, we've decided not to visit the Brooklyn Bethel as Brother Cano said there really isn't much there to see that would really 'intrigue' the boys. In addition, if we went, we'd have to be in dress clothes/shoes the entire day as it costs our family $63 each way to go in and out of the City. :( We did see so many wonderful things and had so many wonderful experiences at the two other Bethels we feel very BLESSED.
Have a good night everyone - and a special hello to Harold!
We're so glad you could come and spend time with Jim.
Love,
Us

Harold and I are doing fine with Hershey and Ming. A Culvers salad was enjoyed by all including Hershey and Ming in that I bought a morsel of chicken home to them.
We've got to goto OCB, Godfaters and Culvers but I still enjoy the more I think palatable variety at OCB and have been eating pretty good but look forward to you safe return the good meals that aren't available other wise.
Continue enjoying and be careful and I know how Shawn felt especially on the Subway system at night after the 58 big international assembly where I saw men and women sleeping in doorways with the barred windows. Made me think if the establishment didn't feel safe without the bars how safe were the vagrants (as they were called back then) in a doorway sleeping in a total unconscious state.
Be careful and see you all when you return, HI!! to everyone glad you're all having such a good time.
