Yeah, I've been lax...

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. Too many things going on and not enough time.

We had a wonderful trip to Rochester August 8-10 and attended the Guided by God's Spirit District Convention as a family. I've posted a segment of the drama on the Dropshots page for those of you who would like to see it. I can't remember the exact attendance numbers but it was somewhere in the 4000 neighborhood. I could go look at my notes, but does it really matter?? :) In addition, 39 were baptized.

I've been working fast and furious on my Typewell training and take my comprehensive skills exam tomorrow! After that, only 2 more lessons and I'm done. At least I'll know right away if I passed. I'm still waiting for my National Interpreter Certifcation results from the test I took in June!

Most exciting at this point now is the KINGDOM HALL BUILDING! So much has happened since I posted pictures last. While I was in Dallas, the garage was built and the 1st layer of blacktop was laid. The well & electricity were hooked up, and the air conditioners are in place. Today starts the REAL busy work! Teams have arrived and are beginning the building process. I'll be heading out later to take pictures and I'll post them on Dropshots tonight. The lion's share of the work will be completed between now and Sunday night. Interior finishing, etc will be completed next weekend.

All of the labor is volunteer including food service. Three weeks ago, Leandra, James, Jonathan, Noah, Jeanne Brass, Christine Bitner, Jackie Poole & myself made cookie dough and baked 2148 cookies in two days! It was a lot of fun and not nearly the work I thought it would be thanks to Leandra's organization and overall baking skills! Both days I forgot my camera so I had to rely on my phone to take a few pictures. They are posted on Dropshots.

It’s Not Field Service, It’s a Party!

The title for this post came from a Brother at the Kingdom Hall today! He expressed it well! We arrived at the Kingdom Hall (Ibirapuera Congregation) for service. The meeting was conducted consecutively in English, Português, French and Spanish. Ps. 110:3 was the verse we considered. A final prayer was said in Português and off we went with our one partner to the territory. It was all walking and there were friends every block. I ended up in a group - my partner Marina has an 8 year old son Benjamin. Also another sister was unable to come, so her partner Christina joined us. Benjamin is the only child in the entire congregation! They have about 100 publishers. The love, attention and care he receives is beautiful! The entire congregation is raising him! The next oldest in the congregation is 17 year old Nathan, who was Jonathan’s partner for the morning. Heading out for field service this morning! Yesterday was amazing, but so tiring. We were able to get new SIM cards so we have phone service & internet. I can receive messages, but for some reason I can’t send them on my regular text. It’s best to use WhatsApp or Messenger to reach me if you need to. We exchanged money, bought shoes, bought toiletries and ate dinner. Then showered and hit the hay. We ate at the hotel restaurant just for convenience. Shawn & Jon had burgers & fries, I had cheese ravioli. Obviously the menu wasn’t very exotic. 😉 It is in the low 50s here this morning and folks are all bundled in coats & boots. I’m in a sweater, with bare legs & sandals. The low humidity is refreshing. The hotel breakfast was included and there was a beautiful buffet. Wallkill Bethel

We got up at about 6AM and started getting ready so we could be at Wallkill about 8AM. Shawn and the boys went down to the hotel restaurant to get breakfast and I ironed shirts and pants and got ready in a male free room! Wallkill was about a 30 minute drive from our hotel in Newburgh and was fairly easy to find thanks to Google. We missed one turn right in the town of Wallkill so had to get directions at the little deli in town. When we arrived, we were able to visit a wonderful display in the lobby about the history of the Watchtower and Awake magazines and the Watchtower organizations radio station WBBR that was in existence in the early days. Very interesting! I also got the "Noah" and "David" DVD in ASL from the literature counter there. So exciting as it's one I don't have! Next, our tour guide Brother Lester Slack came to the lobby to give us the tour of the printery and bindery. Lester has been a member of the Bethel family for over 27 years,
